If you want to see the wonder of the underground world – from the safety of a guided tour – Mitchelstown Cave in Tipperary is a great starting point.
At the foothills of the Galtee Mountains, close to Cahir, its three massive caverns were discovered in 1833 and opened to the public in 1972. This family run cave complex showcases drip stone formations, stalactites, stalagmites and huge calcite columns as well as amazing acoustics. At a constant 12C it’s ideal to visit year round.
